ABOUT OUR FIRM

Our firm was founded in 1939 by the late Djura Ž. Mijatovic, a prominent lawyer and former Chairman of the Belgrade Bar Association. In the early sixties, Djura Ž. Mijatovic was also appointed secretary-general of the Yugoslav Bar Association.

The firm started off as a general practice law firm, but after World War II, the firm started specializing in Intellectual Property Law and Commercial Law, headed later by the senior partner, Mr. Živko Dj. Mijatovic. Mr. Živko Dj. Mijatovic joined the partnership in 1970 after working as the Manager of the Trade Mark Department of the Yugoslav Patent and Trade Mark Office. Our current Senior Partner Djura Ž. Mijatovic J.R. is a Barrister and the member of Middle Temple, London. He has specialized in Intellectual Property and is a registered representative before the OHIM office in Alicante. Our office and our partners have also been active members of many international organizations and associations, including: L.E.S. International, Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group (P.T.M.G.), INTA, ECTA, Marques, ITMA and others.

Our primary activity is the protection of all kinds of Intellectual Property Rights including Trade/Service Marks, Patents, Designs, Copyright Law and Unfair Competition in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. We also have an office in Alicante, Spain, dedicated to the protection of European Community Trade Marks. Other activities of our firm include Licensing Agreements, Product Registration, Joint Venture Agreements, opening of representation offices, etc. For the past sixty years our firm has been rendering services to a large number of multinational companies, the list of which may be obtained upon request.
